Overview
Chatting Nexus helps students connect with mentors for career conversations and coffee chats. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and how users can manage or delete their information.
Information We Collect
We may collect account information such as name, email address, a one-way password hash for password accounts, role, current stage, career questions, job title, company or experience, profile photo, biography, expertise, interest tags, website links, booking links, profile card settings, and language preference. We may also collect Conversation Commitment status, post-chat review ratings, review notes, conversation history data, warning counts, temporary restriction status, moderation appeals, and records needed to enforce platform rules.
Google User Data
If you choose to connect your Google account, Chatting Nexus may receive basic Google account information for sign-in and may request Google Calendar read-only access for schedule features. Calendar data may include event titles, times, locations, descriptions, and meeting links that Google makes available through the authorized scope. We use this data only to display your schedule and help you open meeting links inside Chatting Nexus.
Google API Limited Use
Chatting Nexus's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, use it to train generalized AI or machine learning models, or transfer it to unrelated third parties.
How We Use Information
We use user information to create and authenticate accounts, display profiles, recommend mentors based on interest tags, personalize profile cards, enable scheduling features, collect post-chat ratings, show conversation history, enforce community quality rules, prevent permanently blocked email addresses from registering again, maintain service security, and respond to support requests.
Ratings, Warnings, and Moderation Data
Post-chat ratings and notes may be saved to the reviewer and reviewed user's account records. Ratings are evaluated only after minimum sample thresholds are reached and may generate warnings or temporary restrictions under our Terms of Service. Users may submit an appeal for human review. Permanent restrictions require manual review.
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information. Public mentor profile details, such as nickname, bio, expertise, tags, avatar, card background, and booking link, may be displayed to other users so that students can discover and contact mentors. Review and moderation data is used for platform quality and account enforcement. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the security, rights, or integrity of Chatting Nexus and its users.
Data Storage and Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user information and store only the information needed to operate the platform. Google access credentials, if provided, are used to support authorized Google features. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
We keep account information while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, we remove your account data from active user records. If your account was permanently blocked, we may retain the blocked email record to prevent repeat registration and enforce platform safety rules.
User Choices and Deletion
Users can update profile information from the profile page and may delete their account using the delete account option. Users can revoke Google account access from their Google Account security settings at any time. After revocation, Google Calendar features may stop working until access is granted again.
Children
Chatting Nexus is intended for university students, alumni, mentors, and career conversation participants. It is not directed to children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our service, data practices, or legal requirements change. The updated date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last changed.
